The peristyle consisted of a
three side portico with fluted Doric columns, the lower third of which
were enlarged and painted red. Iron clamps found in the garden
suggest a wooden fence. On the unroofed end wall was a trompe l'oeil
wooden fence but sadly the imaginary garden within is no longer visible.
A lararium, built in the form of a small temple with architectural
components in stucco relief is built in the tall podium onto the back wall
of the viridarium to the west. Two more cubiculi with 4th style
frescos open onto the west portico

| The
peristylium was in effect the garden of the house.
In it were grown herbs and flowers, particularly roses, violets and
lilies it appears.
Small statues and statuettes and other ornamental artwork or outdoor
furniture would adorn the space which, on sunny days, would be used
as an outside dining area.
